If all go well you get a castle and the nasty modifiers will go away. You take the decision and an event chain start that lead to the success or insuccess of your colonization effort. You put your Steward on the colony with the colonize action and a new decision "colonize " is enabled. You declare war normally but the "army" will be always ridiculous (100-200 men) as they have shitty modifier.Any character that is near a colonizable land has a permanent CB against them.

Regarding the colonization mechanic it is present in The Middle Earth Project too and it is indeed done adding a button to the possible steward action, please note that in The Middle Earth Project as in AGOT colonies are represented as special holding (of 0 value) ruled by a character of "ruin" culture. Also pretty sure there are more than the ones I added. I'm pretty terrible drawing province outlines and I am sure these are far from historical. At least not with my beginner level modding skills.Īlso, as an example as to how I plan on doing the provinces represented as duchies, I did up a quick mockup with Ireland/Scotland/England. It won't be the best feature in the game simply because I won't be able to do it EUIV style. To be honest though, colonization is a bit down in the development cycle but it is good to plan/brainstorm when possible.

Upgrade the castle/city building to the right high enough level and then be allowed to upgrade it to just that, turning the tribal province into a feudal state. Newly formed feudal colonies may just be called settlements and work similar to how tribal holding go. Thoraki? I can't remember as I'm not a big fan of Game of Thrones and I've not played the mod in some time. Only 'feudal' states/republics/kingdoms/etc will be able to colonize though I probably will try to add in something for the Mesoamericans/Native Americans like how AGOT mod did the horse tribe. Everything in The Americas will be tribal, that much is obvious. Maybe presenting different ways to different cultures or tiers.

There will (hopefully) be a few ways in how to go about colonization. This would lead to your vassal merchant republics colonizing the rest of the "new world" entirely on their own. Since Merchant Republics naturally would make trade posts and upgrade them and if the custom "trade post to city" event is done right, they would also upgrade it into a city and thus get a natural casus belly to take the rest of the county. If you turn it into a city and get the county and the nearby dutchy, you could turn the city into a vassal Merchant Republic, which would naturally function like the semi independent colony estates(or whatever they were) that were there historically. If you turn it into a castle, you would just get a pocket of extra troops. I don't know, what that barony should be.

After a certain stage is achieved the player gets a decision to upgrade it into a barony. You yourself would have to tweak the amount of stages. After some time the modifier changes to "Colony Stage 2". Instead you put a button that functions a little like "Settle Tribe" but it instead of changing the culture, it puts a modifier on the county "Colony Stage 1". First, one would need to replace one action on the steward advisor. That could be perhaps solved with some sort of event system.

Too bad the regular kingdoms can't colonize that way. And then the merchant republic will get a casus belli to take the rest of the county. Then you should make a custom decision to transform that enclave into a city barony. Then they grow that merchant enclave by building it. Merchant republics have a good mechanic that is perfect for colonization simulacra.įirst the merchant republics establish a merchant enclave on the shores of the indians.
